How our data works
Scores, fantasy points and player numbers are the backbone of every game on CricketDream. This page explains where they come from, how fast they update, how we check them and what to do if you spot something wrong.

Where the numbers come from
Match data is compiled from official match scorecards and ball-by-ball records. Squads come from official team and board announcements. Player career numbers are built from international ball-by-ball records going back several seasons. CricketDream compiles, cross-checks and presents all of it. We do not make up or estimate a statistic: if a number is not available yet, the page says so.
How often it updates
- During a live match, scores refresh every few minutes, and fantasy points follow the scorecard.
- Playing XIs are picked up shortly after the toss, usually within a few minutes.
- When a match ends, the final score and result are confirmed before points are locked in.
- Squads and fixtures are updated as soon as they are officially announced.
Fantasy points
Every player in a match earns points for runs, wickets, catches and other contributions, using the same rules across Fantasy XI, Draft, Season Fantasy and the leaderboards. Captains score double and vice-captains one and a half times. The full table is on the scoring rules page.
How we check it
- When a match finishes, the stored score and winner are compared with the final official result and corrected if they differ.
- Every day an automated check looks for data that contradicts itself: a preview that does not match its fixture, a result that does not match the scores, or a match still marked upcoming after it was played. Anything it finds goes to our team to fix.
- Articles are checked against official scorecards and announcements before they are published, and dated so you can see how current they are.
Community numbers
Ownership is the share of CricketDream teams for a match that picked a player. Captain Battle shows who those teams made captain, and only appears once at least five teams exist. Cricket Grid percentiles and pick rarity only appear once at least ten players have finished that day's grid. Below those thresholds the numbers would be noise, so we do not show them.
Times and dates
Match times are shown in Indian Standard Time when a page first loads and then switch to your own time zone.

Licences
Some historical ball-by-ball statistics are used under an open data licence. Where those numbers appear, the required credit is shown next to them.
