How to Play Season Fantasy

Season Fantasy is CricketDream's tournament-long game mode. Instead of building a fresh team for every match, you pick one squad of 11 players and manage it across the entire series — rotating your captain, making transfers when form dips, and watching your points accumulate match by match.

Step-by-Step: How to Play

  1. Go to Season Fantasy and click Build Your Team
  2. Pick 11 players from any of the 12 competing nations within the 100 Cr budget
  3. Choose your formation — you need at least 1 wicket-keeper, 1 all-rounder, 1 bowler, and 1 batsman; the rest is up to you
  4. Set a captain (C) who earns 2× points, and a vice-captain (VC) who earns 1.5× — both are free to change before every match
  5. Save your team before the first match starts — it is snapshotted at match start time
  6. Watch points accumulate as your players perform across all 33 Women's T20 World Cup matches
  7. Make transfers whenever form, injuries, or team selections change — each swap costs one transfer from your 75 allowance
  8. Compete globally on the leaderboard, or create a private league to battle friends

Transfers — Your Most Valuable Resource

You have 75 transfers for the entire tournament. That sounds like a lot, but across 33 matches it works out to fewer than 2.5 per round. Use them when you must — not every time a player has a quiet match. Save transfers for genuine form collapses, injuries, or a player being dropped from the playing XI.

  • Captain and vice-captain swaps are free — they do not use a transfer, so change C/VC freely before every match
  • Think in blocks, not matches — is this player bad for the next 3 matches, or just having one off day?
  • Prioritize the group stage — tournament cricket has a lot of matches early; getting your squad right before knockouts is worth a transfer or two
  • Watch team news — a confirmed playing XI change (rotation or injury) is the clearest signal to spend a transfer

Captain Strategy

The captain multiplier (2×) is your biggest single lever. Over a 33-match tournament, picking the right captain before every game can be worth hundreds of extra points. Because it costs nothing, you should always set your captain before each match — never leave it on the default.

  • Rotate between your best two or three players based on the matchup and venue
  • Favour all-rounders who score points from batting and bowling — they have a much higher ceiling than a specialist
  • Avoid captaining a specialist bowler against a batting-friendly pitch, or a top-order bat in a low-scoring conditions
  • Check if the match is day or night — dew can heavily favour the team chasing, which changes which players are likely to bat in the best conditions

Building Your Initial Squad

Your first team matters more than any single transfer. A well-thought-out starting XI avoids the need for panic transfers when the tournament begins.

  • Cover multiple teams — players from 12 nations compete; avoid over-investing in one country in case they exit early
  • Balance premium and budget picks — spend big on 3–4 elite players and fill the rest with reliable mid-range options
  • Prioritise players likely to feature in all group matches — guaranteed playing time across more matches compounds your points
  • Include an elite all-rounder as your anchor captain pick — someone like Ellyse Perry or Nat Sciver-Brunt who contributes in both departments
  • Check recent T20I form, not just reputation — international women's cricket moves quickly and form matters more than career reputation

Frequently Asked Questions

How is Season Fantasy different from a normal Fantasy XI?

In a regular Fantasy XI you pick a fresh team for every match. Season Fantasy gives you one squad for the entire tournament. Your transfers are limited (75 across 33 matches), so every change must count — you cannot reshuffle completely each round.

How many transfers do I get?

You start with 75 free transfers for the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 (33 matches). Each player swap uses one transfer. Captain and vice-captain changes are free and do not cost a transfer.

When does my team lock for a match?

Your team is snapshotted at the scheduled match start time. Any unsaved changes before that point are not counted. Make sure to save transfers and captain picks before the match begins.

Can I change my captain every match?

Yes — captain and vice-captain selections are free and can be changed before every match. Captaincy is the main lever you can pull every round without spending a transfer, so use it wisely.

What happens to my points if a player is unavailable or injured?

If a player does not play (injury, rest, or selection), they score 0 points for that match. Use a transfer to swap them out before their team's next match.

Can I join private Season Fantasy leagues?

Yes. The Season Fantasy Leagues section lets you create or join a private league with friends. You all use your individual season teams, but points are compared within the league for a separate leaderboard.
