What is the most runs a batter has hit off the bat in a single over of Test cricket?

Answer Explanation

Brian Lara was the first to hit 28 off the bat in a Test over, taking 4, 6, 6, 4, 4, 4 off Robin Peterson for West Indies against South Africa in Johannesburg in 2003. George Bailey matched it off James Anderson at Perth in 2013. The most expensive Test over overall is 35, when Jasprit Bumrah took 29 off Stuart Broad at Edgbaston in 2022 and the rest came from extras, so the off-the-bat record still stands at 28.
