Cricket Quiz is CricketDream's live trivia game mode. Unlike Fantasy XI or Draft where you compete based on how players perform on the pitch, Cricket Quiz tests your cricket knowledge directly. Every player in the room sees the same question at the same time, has the same countdown to answer, and earns points for getting it right.
Questions span 8 categories — IPL records, International cricket, World Cup history, famous Players, Teams, Stadiums, Records, and a Mixed mode that pulls from all of them. The question bank has 150+ verified questions so no two games feel the same.
How to Create a Quiz Room
- Sign in to CricketDream and go to the Quiz page (/quiz)
- Click "Create Quiz Room" in the top section
- Choose your category (IPL, International, World Cup, Players, Teams, Stadiums, Records, or Mixed)
- Pick the number of questions: 5, 10, 15, or 20
- Set max players (2–8) and whether the room is public or private
- Click Create — you get a 6-character room code instantly
- Share the code or invite link with friends
- Once everyone has joined, the host clicks "Start Quiz"
A room needs at least 2 players before the host can start. You can play with up to 8 — larger groups make the leaderboard more competitive.
How to Join a Quiz Room
- Go to /quiz and find the "Join with Code" panel
- Enter the 6-character room code shared by your friend
- Click Join — you'll land straight in the waiting lobby
- Wait for the host to start the game
- Alternatively, browse the public rooms list and click "Join" on any open room
How the Game Works — Phase by Phase
1. Waiting Room
Everyone who joins lands here. You can see all players in the lobby, the room code (for late joiners), the category, and question count. The host sees a 'Start Quiz' button — once they tap it, the game begins for everyone simultaneously.
2. Countdown (5 seconds)
A 5-4-3-2-1 animated countdown appears for all players. This gives everyone a moment to get ready before the first question drops.
3. Question Phase (15 seconds)
The question appears with 4 multiple-choice options (A, B, C, D). A countdown timer ticks from 15 — it turns orange below 10 seconds and red below 5. Tap your answer before time runs out. You can see how many players in the room have already answered (shown as 'X/N answered') but you cannot see what they picked.
Once you tap an answer, it's locked in. You can't change it, so trust your first instinct — faster correct answers don't earn bonus points, but answering quickly lets you watch others answer in real time.
4. Result Phase (5 seconds)
The correct answer is revealed in green. If you got it right, your selection also highlights green; if wrong, it shows red. A short explanation of the answer appears so you actually learn something. The mini leaderboard updates with everyone's current score before the next question begins.
5. Next Question
After the result phase, the game automatically moves to the next question. This continues until all questions are answered.
6. Completed — Final Standings
When the last question is done, the final leaderboard appears. The top 3 players get a podium (gold, silver, bronze). You can see everyone's score, how many they got right, and their rank. There's a Share Result button to flex on social media and a Play Again button to jump back to the quiz hub.
Scoring — How Points Work
- ✅ Correct answer: +100 points
- ❌ Wrong answer: 0 points (no penalty)
- ⏱ No answer (time runs out): 0 points
- Tiebreaker: if two players have the same score, the one with more correct answers ranks higher
There is no negative scoring — getting it wrong doesn't hurt you. But missing a question while others nail it means they pull ahead, so every question matters. The scoring is kept intentionally simple so the focus stays on knowledge, not risk management.
Every player answers independently. A wrong answer from one player doesn't affect anyone else — this is pure individual trivia, not a team game.

Tips to Win Cricket Quiz
Don't overthink it
Most cricket trivia questions have an answer that jumps out immediately. If you second-guess yourself and switch, you'll often go from right to wrong. Your gut knows more than you think.
Pick your best category
If you're the host, choose a category you're strongest in. IPL fanatics do best in IPL mode; stats nerds should pick Records; those with broad cricket knowledge should pick Mixed.
Watch the answered count
During the question phase, you can see how many players have already answered. If everyone else has answered and you're still thinking, that's a cue to commit — time is short.
Use the result phase wisely
The 5-second result screen shows the leaderboard. Use it to gauge how far ahead or behind you are — if you're trailing, you know you need a perfect run on the remaining questions.
Play more to learn more
Every result screen shows a short explanation for the correct answer. Over multiple games you'll absorb facts naturally — the quiz doubles as a cricket education tool.
Public vs Private Rooms
When creating a room you can make it public or private. Public rooms appear in the lobby list on the Quiz hub — anyone can see them and join. Private rooms are hidden; only players with the 6-character code can join. Use private rooms when you want a closed game with just your friends.
Fair Play — How the Anti-Cheat Works
The correct answer is never sent to your browser during the question phase — it only arrives after the phase ends. All answer validation happens on the server, so no one can inspect network requests to find the right option. The server also enforces the timing window, so answers submitted after the question closes are rejected. Each player can only submit one answer per question.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I play Cricket Quiz without an account?
You need a CricketDream account to create or join a quiz room — this is how the leaderboard tracks who's who. Signing up is free and takes under 30 seconds.
How long does a game take?
Each question takes 15 seconds plus a 5-second result screen. A 10-question game runs about 4–5 minutes from start to final standings. A 20-question game is 8–10 minutes. The 5-second countdown at the start adds a few seconds on top.
What happens if I lose connection mid-game?
The game state is stored on the server. If you refresh or reconnect, you'll land back in the room at whatever phase the game is currently in. Questions you missed while disconnected count as no-answer (0 points).
Can someone join after the game has started?
No — rooms lock when the host starts the game. Only players in the waiting room before the host taps Start can participate. This keeps the competition fair.
How many questions are in the bank?
There are 150+ verified cricket trivia questions across the 8 categories. Questions are randomly selected each game, so you won't see the same set twice in a row.
