Sri Lanka come to India in December for a six-match white-ball tour, three ODIs followed by three T20Is, with all matches played in India's time zone and at times that suit a home audience: afternoon ODIs at 2:00 PM and evening T20Is at 7:00 PM IST.
The ODIs are in Delhi, Bengaluru and Ahmedabad, and the T20Is are in Rajkot, Cuttack and Pune. Squads have not been announced yet. This guide has the calendar, the venues and the fantasy approach, and is updated when squads are named.
Three ODIs, 13 to 19 December
Three T20Is, 22 to 27 December
What each ground offers
- Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi (1st ODI): historically a ground where the ball turns slowly and the outfield is quick. Spinners come into play in the middle overs.
- M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru (2nd ODI): a small ground that produces high totals. Back batters and bowlers who can take wickets in the death overs.
- Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad (3rd ODI): the largest stadium in the world, with a spacious outfield that favours accurate bowlers over power hitters.
- Niranjan Shah Stadium, Rajkot (1st T20I): a venue where batters generally enjoy the true surface, so back top-order hitters.
- Barabati Stadium, Cuttack (2nd T20I): an evening game, so check the toss for the dew effect before you decide how many spinners to pick.
- Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune (3rd T20I): the last match of the tour, so check whether either side is resting players.
Fantasy approach
- In the ODIs, pick spinners and top-order batters for Delhi and Ahmedabad and add power hitters and death bowlers for Bengaluru.
- In the T20Is, pick batters who can open and take on the new ball. Powerplay runs are a big source of fantasy points.
- Consider the toss. These are evening games, so dew can make chasing easier.
- Check for rotation. Six matches in fifteen days is a busy run for any team, so watch confirmed XIs.
- Use Draft: a snake draft across a six-match series makes friends compete on how well they predict the full run of the tour.
ODIs at 2:00 PM and T20Is at 7:00 PM IST are the easiest times to follow all season. Build your XI the day before and lock it before the toss to avoid late changes.
What to expect
India are strong at home in both formats, and Sri Lanka will rely on their spinners and top-order batters. The T20Is are likely to be closer than the ODIs. Set your own call in a free Predictor game before each match.
