HOW TO PLAY PREDICTOR

A free, skill-based cricket prediction game you play with friends for entertainment — answer 5 questions before every IPL game and score points for every correct call.

🎯WHAT IS PREDICTOR?

Predictor is a free, skill-based match prediction game played with friends in groups of 2–50 for entertainment. The game creator picks a set of upcoming IPL matches and shares a 6-character invite code. Everyone joins and submits 5 predictions per match — predictions close 1 hour before each match starts. After the match ends, scores are calculated automatically. The player with the most points tops the leaderboard.

It's pure cricket knowledge — no team-building, no credits, no squad management. Just pick, predict, and score.

🛠️HOW TO SET UP A GAME

01
Create a game
Go to /predictor → "Create Game". Give it a name, set the max players (2–50), pick the matches to include, and optionally enable Power Plays (0 to number of matches).
02
Share the invite code
After creating, you'll get a 6-character code. Share it with friends on WhatsApp or copy the link from the game page.
03
Friends join
They go to Predictor → "Join Game" → enter your code. They're in instantly.
04
Make predictions
Predictions close 1 hour before each match starts. Answer the 5 questions before the cutoff — the exact close time is shown on each match card. Use ⚡ Power Play on Match Winner if the game has Power Plays enabled.
05
See results
After the match ends, scores update automatically. Check the leaderboard to see where you stand.

THE 5 PREDICTIONS

Every match has the same 5 questions. You must answer all 5 to submit.

🏆 Match Winner

Pick which team wins the match — team A or team B.

💡 Tip: Study recent head-to-head records and home advantage.
⭐ Man of the Match

Predict which player will be awarded Man of the Match.

💡 Tip: All-rounders who bat in the top 4 and bowl are frequent MOM winners.
🏏 Most Runs

Pick the player who will score the most runs in the match across both teams.

💡 Tip: Openers from batting-friendly pitches hit this most often.
🎳 Most Wickets

Pick the player who will take the most wickets in the match.

💡 Tip: Spin-friendly pitches favour off-spinners and leg-spinners in the middle overs.
🔢 1st Innings Runs

Select a run-band for the first team's total — 0–99, 100–119, 120–139, 140–159, 160–179, 180–199, or 200+.

💡 Tip: Check pitch reports: Chepauk and Kotla average ~150–165, while Wankhede and Chinnaswamy go 175–185.

ALL OTHER QUESTIONS (MOM, MOST RUNS, MOST WICKETS, 1ST INNINGS RUNS)
+100

0

⚠ Missed Prediction (didn't submit before cutoff)
−100
Match Winner (missed)

All others (missed)
Missing the cutoff is treated the same as a wrong Match Winner prediction — there is no safe way to skip a match you're in.
⚡ Power Play (optional, Match Winner only)
+200
⚡ PP correct
−200
⚡ PP wrong
Power Play is optional and only applies to the Match Winner prediction. The game creator decides how many Power Plays each player gets per league (0 = disabled, max = number of matches). You can use at most one Power Play per match.

💡TIPS & STRATEGY

  • 1.The Match Winner prediction is the only question with a penalty (−100 for wrong). Pick it carefully — only go with a team if you have genuine conviction.
  • 2.If Power Play is enabled, only use it on Match Winner when you have high confidence. Wrong Power Play costs −200 pts.
  • 3.Check pitch reports before predicting first innings runs. Dry surfaces = lower totals; flat pitches = 175+.
  • 4.All-rounders who bat at 3–4 and bowl a full spell are frequent Man of the Match winners.
  • 5.Watch the toss result before finalising the Match Winner prediction — dew factor and batting-first advantages matter at many grounds.
  • 6.Never miss the cutoff. A missed match costs you −100 pts for the match winner automatically — same as a wrong pick, with zero chance of recovery.
