Community Team Tracker: See What Everyone Is Picking Before Match Lock

CricketDream's Community tab shows captain %, ownership %, and differential picks in real time. Learn how to use it to get an edge.

What if you could see every captain choice and ownership percentage across all teams entered for an upcoming match — before you finalise yours? CricketDream's Community tab does exactly that. It's the clearest possible picture of what the field looks like, so you can decide whether to go with the crowd or against it.

What the Community Tab Shows

  • Total teams entered: how many users are competing in this match.
  • Captain distribution: percentage of teams that have chosen each player as captain.
  • Vice-captain distribution: same data for the VC slot.
  • Differential picks: players selected in less than 15% of teams — the biggest potential rank-upswing picks.
  • Popular picks: players selected in over 50% of teams — useful to know where you're similar to or different from the field.

How to Access the Community Tab

  1. Open any upcoming match from the home screen.
  2. Tap or click the "Community" tab below the Match Intelligence card.
  3. Data loads instantly — no login required to view.
  4. Refresh any time before match lock to see updated ownership as more teams are submitted.

Using Captain Distribution to Your Advantage

If 60% of teams have the same captain, your rank swing from that player performing well is tiny — the whole field moves together. But if only 8% of teams have a player as captain and they score 80 points, you gain rank against 92% of the field. This is the mathematics of differentiation, and the community captain chart makes it visible.

When to Follow the Crowd (And When Not To)

Picking the popular captain is optimal when the outcome is predictable — a dominant opener on a flat pitch, a favourite bowler at their home ground. Go against the crowd when you have genuine information the market hasn't priced in: a player returning to form, a favourable match-up, or a confirmed XI that includes an underrated pick.

💡

The sweet spot for a differential captain is 5–20% ownership. Under 5% means the market thinks something is wrong (form, fitness, or role). Over 20% and the rank upside shrinks significantly.

Differential Picks: How to Use the <15% List

The differential section highlights players picked by fewer than 15% of teams. These are your rank-swinging weapons. Sort by ownership in the team builder (the "% Low (Diff)" sort option) to find all sub-15% picks in the eligible pool, then filter by role to identify which differential suits your XI structure.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the community data real-time or delayed?

The community API updates every 5 minutes and serves the cached version between refreshes. It reflects all locked and unlocked teams submitted up to that point. On match day, refresh just before you finalise to get the most recent snapshot.

Does the community tab show data for all leagues or just public ones?

Community data is aggregated across all teams submitted for the match — public leagues, private leagues, and direct entries. It is fully anonymised: you see ownership percentages, not individual team choices.

Should I always avoid the most popular captain?

No. If the popular captain is genuinely the best pick, avoiding them for differentiation is bad strategy. Differentiation only creates value when your non-consensus pick performs similarly or better. Pick on merit first, then assess whether the differential upside is worth the risk.

Check the Community tab before your next team lock.
