Cricket World Cup 2027 Venues: All 12 Grounds, How They Play and Their ODI Records

All 12 Cricket World Cup 2027 venues: how each ground plays, its ODI records since 2003, its 2003 World Cup history, and every 2027 match it hosts.

The 2027 World Cup is spread across 12 venues in three countries: eight in South Africa, three in Zimbabwe and one in Namibia. Ten of the twelve host cities also staged matches at the 2003 World Cup. The two newcomers are Windhoek, whose Namibia Cricket Ground opens the tournament, and Victoria Falls, where the Mosi-oa-Tunya Stadium hosts its first World Cup game.

For each ground below you will find how it has played in ODIs, its records, its World Cup history and every 2027 match it hosts. The numbers are not guesswork: they are calculated from the ball-by-ball records of every men's ODI played there from 2003 to 13 August 2026, as published by Cricsheet. Matches before 2003 are not included, so treat the records as "this century" rather than all-time.

💡

Where the ICC lists a venue by city only, we name the city's international ground. Harare and Bulawayo each have more than one, so for those two cities the ground shown is the main international venue and has not yet been confirmed by the ICC.

"Chasing won" counts only matches with a winner, so ties and no-results are left out. "Avg 1st inns" is the average first-innings total in full 50-over matches with no rain revision.

Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg

The home of South African cricket, and the highest ground on the 2027 circuit at roughly 1,750 metres above sea level. In ODIs it has been the best place in South Africa to bat: an average first-innings total of 265 and 5.63 runs an over, the highest scoring rate of any 2027 venue in the archive. Chasing has a slight edge, 19 wins from 36.

This is where Australia beat India in the 2003 World Cup final, and where South Africa chased 438 against Australia in 2006, one of the most famous ODIs ever played. In 2027 it hosts India v Pakistan on 10 October and the final on 21 November.

Centurion hosted India v Pakistan at the 2003 World Cup, the match of Sachin Tendulkar's 98. In 2027 it has India v Afghanistan and Pakistan v Afghanistan in the group, and the second semi-final.

Durban (Kingsmead)

Kingsmead is Durban's international ground, on the Indian Ocean coast. Weather has hit it harder than any other South African 2027 venue: five of its 28 ODIs since 2003 ended without a result. One more was tied. The average first-innings total is 255.

Kingsmead staged two of the most talked-about games of the 2003 World Cup: Ashish Nehra's 6 for 23 against England, and the tie with Sri Lanka that knocked the hosts out. It also hosted the India v Kenya semi-final. In 2027 it has six matches, including the last Super 7 game.

Paarl (Boland Park)

Boland Park, in the Western Cape winelands, is Paarl's international ground. It has a smaller ODI sample, 12 matches, with batting first winning seven.

It holds one of the World Cup's most famous low scores: Canada were bowled out for 36 by Sri Lanka here in 2003. In 2027 Paarl hosts four games: three in the group, including Australia v Pakistan, and India v New Zealand in the Super 7.

Harare (Harare Sports Club)

Harare Sports Club is Zimbabwe's main international ground and by far the most-used venue here, with 113 ODIs since 2003. The ICC has listed the venue as Harare without naming the ground, and the city has other grounds that have staged ODIs, so treat this as the likely rather than confirmed venue. On the highveld, it has favoured chasing: 61 wins from 111 decided games.

In 2027 Harare hosts four group games, including Zimbabwe's matches against Australia and Pakistan.

ODI records at the ground (2003 to August 2026)

Queens Sports Club is Bulawayo's main international ground, with 54 ODIs since 2003. As with Harare, the ICC has named the city but not the ground. Results are almost evenly split, 24 wins batting first and 26 chasing.

It is where Fakhar Zaman made Pakistan's first ODI double century, 210 not out against Zimbabwe in 2018. In 2027 Bulawayo hosts Zimbabwe's first two games, against Qualifier A and Afghanistan.

Victoria Falls (Mosi-oa-Tunya Stadium)

The new ground of the tournament. The Mosi-oa-Tunya Stadium has no men's ODI history in the archive, so there are no records to quote yet: Zimbabwe v India on 24 October will be its first World Cup match. It then hosts three Super 7 games, including India v Australia and Pakistan v England.

Namibia Cricket Ground, Windhoek

Windhoek has staged men's ODIs since 2019, mostly at the Wanderers and United grounds in CWC League 2. The Namibia Cricket Ground's own record in the archive covers five ODIs, all in 2026, so its numbers come from a very small sample. The city sits on Namibia's central plateau, at altitude.

It opens the World Cup with all three Super Series matches on 2, 4 and 6 October, then hosts three Group B games, two of them involving England. Namibia played at the 2003 World Cup, but no matches were held in Namibia.

ODI records at the ground (2003 to August 2026)

  • Sun 10 Oct: Sri Lanka v Qualifier B (Group B)
  • Wed 13 Oct: England v Sri Lanka (Group B)

What the numbers say about 2027

The highveld grounds, the Wanderers, Centurion and Bloemfontein, have produced the biggest totals, and the Wanderers the fastest scoring. The coastal grounds have been tighter, with St George's Park the slowest-scoring venue in the sample and Newlands the best place to bat first. Teams that go deep into the tournament will play at both: the Super 7 moves between the highveld and the coast, and the semi-finals split Newlands and Centurion before the final at the Wanderers.
