The European T20 Premier League (ETPL) is a new franchise T20 competition backed by investors including Abhishek Bachchan, with Cricket Ireland, Cricket Scotland and the Royal Dutch Cricket Association as partners. The inaugural season kicks off on 26 August 2026 when Rotterdam Dockers host Amsterdam Flames at Sportpark Duivesteijn, Voorburg.
Tournament Format
- Double round-robin: each of the 6 teams plays every other team twice (30 league matches)
- Top of the table qualifies directly for the Final on 20 September
- 2nd vs 3rd play a Qualifier on 19 September; winner meets the table-toppers in the Final
- Standard T20 rules — 20 overs per side, super over if tied
Venues
The first 15 matches are in Voorburg, Netherlands (Sportpark Duivesteijn). The second leg shifts to Malahide Cricket Ground, Ireland for matches 16–30 and the playoffs.
Opening Fixture
Match 1: Rotterdam Dockers vs Amsterdam Flames, 26 August 2026, 15:15 local at Voorburg. Faf du Plessis leads the Dockers; Mitchell Marsh captains the Flames with Steve Smith, Tim David and Michael Bracewell in the lineup.
