An all-rounder who bats in the top 6 AND bowls their full 4 overs is the highest-ceiling fantasy pick in IPL. Two point-scoring opportunities from one squad slot. Here's why all-rounders win fantasy leagues.
Why All-Rounders Are the Secret Weapon
Two Scoring Disciplines
A pure batsman scores from batting only. An all-rounder scores from batting AND bowling. Over a 10-match series, an all-rounder averaging 30 (bat) + 20 (bowl) = 50 pts/match outscores a pure batsman averaging 50 pts/match. Consistency trumps ceiling.
Safer Captain/VC Picks
When you captain an all-rounder, you're hedged. If they don't score with the bat, they might take a wicket. If they don't bowl well, they might score 40. Pure batsmen have one skill; all-rounders have two.
Consistent Point Sources
All-rounders bat and bowl every match (if selected). That's two chances to contribute. A batsman who scores 0 is zero points. An all-rounder who scores 0 but takes 2 wickets is 50 pts.
IPL 2026 Best All-Rounders by Team
RCB: Jacob Bethell
Bats top 4, bowls medium pace. Consistent performer who scores at 150+ SR. A dual-threat fantasy pick.
MI: Hardik Pandya
The template all-rounder. Bats 5–6, bowls 4 overs of pace. 40-ball 60 + 2 wickets is a match-winning 100 base pts.
CSK: Shivam Dube
Middle-order hitter with big six-hitting upside. Bowls 2–3 overs of medium pace. 30-ball 40 + 1 wicket is solid fantasy return.
KKR: Sunil Narine
The fantasy all-rounder GOAT. Opens with 180+ SR, bowls match-winning off-spin. 50 (bat) + 30 (bowl) = 80 base pts regularly. A must-have in any KKR game.
SRH: Nitish Kumar Reddy
Young Indian all-rounder on the rise. Bats middle-order, bowls pace. As Cummins sits out early season, Reddy gets more bowling overs.
RR: Ravindra Jadeja
One of the greatest fantasy all-rounders ever. Bats 5–6, bowls left-arm spin. Consistent 50–80 pts/match. Captain-worthy almost every game.
PBKS: Marcus Stoinis
Explosive middle-order bat with 40-ball 60+ ceiling. Bowls 2–3 useful overs. High upside for fantasy leagues.
DC: Axar Patel
Delhi's captain and premier all-rounder. Bats 5–6, bowls left-arm spin. Consistent 60–80 pts. Excellent VC option.
GT: Rashid Khan
All-rounder from bat and bowl perspective. Barely bats but bowls 4 overs of magic every game — 40–60 pts from bowling alone. Top-3 fantasy pick.
LSG: Mitchell Marsh
Opens or bats #3, bowls medium pace. 50-ball 60 + 1 wicket is realistic. Premium all-rounder for LSG home games.
All-Rounder Fantasy Strategy
Rule 1: Bat in Top 6
All-rounders who bat at #7–8 have low batting upside. Look for all-rounders batting 5 or higher for maximum point potential.
Rule 2: Bowl All 4 Overs
An all-rounder who bowls only 2 overs is not a true all-rounder. Always check: does this player bowl their full quota? If yes, they're premium picks.
Rule 3: All-Rounder Captain
When in doubt, captain an all-rounder. Even if they have a moderate performance (30 bat + 20 bowl), that's 100 base pts → 200 with multiplier. Safer than a pure batsman with high variance.
Rule 4: Best Differentials
Everyone picks the obvious stars. Lesser-known all-rounders (Varun Aaron, Jason Roy, Marco Jansen) have low ownership but high upside. If they fire, you gain 10+ places on leaderboard.
Start every fantasy XI with at least 2 all-rounders. That's your foundation for consistent scoring.
