Pretoria Capitals have been to two SA20 finals and lost both, and the 2026 final was the cruellest. Dewald Brevis scored the first century in an SA20 final and still ended on the losing side.
They open the 2027 season against the same opponents, Sunrisers Eastern Cape, in Gqeberha.

How last season went
The Capitals finished second and beat Sunrisers Eastern Cape by seven wickets in Qualifier 1 to reach the final. At Newlands on 25 January 2026 they were 158/7 after Brevis scored 100 off 53 balls and shared a 96-run stand with Bryce Parsons. The Sunrisers chased it down with four balls left.
The Capitals also lost the first SA20 final in 2023 by four wickets at the Wanderers. Their highest score, 254/4, was made by Durban, but the club has a history of being on the wrong side of the big games.
