Four SA20 seasons have been played, and the picture is very clear: Sunrisers Eastern Cape have reached every final and won three of them. The 2027 season starts on 17 January with the same two teams that played the last final, Sunrisers and Pretoria Capitals, meeting again at St George's Park.

- Qualifier 1 (21 January): Pretoria Capitals beat Sunrisers Eastern Cape by seven wickets at Kingsmead.
- Eliminator (22 January): Paarl Royals beat Joburg Super Kings by 36 runs at Centurion.
- Qualifier 2 (23 January): Sunrisers Eastern Cape beat Paarl Royals by seven wickets at the Wanderers.
- Final (25 January): Pretoria Capitals made 158/7 at Newlands, with Dewald Brevis scoring 100 off 53 balls, the first century in an SA20 final. Sunrisers Eastern Cape chased it down for 162/4 with four balls to spare, from 48/4, to win by six wickets and take a third title.
- Awards: Quinton de Kock was the leading run scorer with 390 and the Player of the Tournament, and Ottneil Baartman (Paarl Royals) took the most wickets, 20.
Format and what is next
SA20 uses a double round-robin league stage in which every team plays ten matches (30 in total), followed by Qualifier 1, an Eliminator, Qualifier 2 and the final. The 2027 edition runs from 17 January to 21 February 2027, with the final at Newlands in Cape Town on 21 February. Pre-auction squads were announced on 5 August, with Mitchell Marsh joining Sunrisers Eastern Cape, Joe Root returning to Paarl Royals, Sam Curran joining Durban's Super Giants and Phil Salt returning to Pretoria Capitals.
