A net session of Phoebe Litchfield's with New South Wales went viral in 2019. That same year, aged 16, she made her debut for Sydney Thunder and became the youngest player to score a WBBL half-century, doing it in just her second match. The video had promised a lot. The cricket delivered more than that.
Litchfield has played 89 WBBL games and scored 1,825 runs at 26.07 with a strike rate of 120.07. She has hit 220 fours and 31 sixes and taken 44 catches. She is a left-handed batter who also bowls off-spin, and her highest score is 68. She is 23, born in Orange, New South Wales on 18 April 2003, so she has plenty of WBBL seasons left.
From Viral Net Session to Captain
Her international numbers are already large for her age. Cricket Australia lists her with 42 ODIs, 1,604 runs and three centuries, five Tests, and 33 T20Is. She has also won the confidence of her club: Thunder gave her the captaincy for WBBL|10.
Trivia

Litchfield in WBBL 2026 Season Fantasy
Litchfield is priced at 9.5 Cr as a batter. Thunder open away against Melbourne Renegades at Junction Oval on 29 October, and their first home game is against Brisbane Heat at Drummoyne Oval on 1 November. She is in Australia's ODI and T20I squads for the October series, so she will arrive in competition form.
Opening batters face the most balls in a match, so they carry the highest points ceiling and the biggest risk. Litchfield's strike rate of 120 is solid rather than explosive, so treat her as a safe base, not a differential.
