Sophie Devine has hit 155 sixes in the WBBL. That is the most in the competition's history and well ahead of the next names on the list. She is also the third-highest run-scorer ever with 4,195, and she has taken 124 wickets. This season she is back at Perth Scorchers on a one-year deal, after retiring from international cricket and being injured in The Hundred.
Devine has played 143 WBBL matches. She averages 34.96 with the bat at a strike rate of 126.85, with four hundreds, 22 fifties and a highest score of 106. With the ball she has 124 wickets at 23.1 with an economy of 7.48 and a best of 5 for 41. She has taken 56 catches. Few players in the league can win a match three different ways.
From Adelaide to Perth
Devine began organised cricket at five and was first picked for Wellington Blaze at 14. She made the White Ferns squad at 17. She has also represented New Zealand in hockey. In 2015 she hit the then-fastest T20I half-century by any player, male or female, in 18 balls, and in the 2017 World Cup she hit nine sixes in a game against Pakistan, a first for any woman in ODI cricket.
Trivia
- She is the only player to win Player of the Tournament at two different WBBL clubs.

- Cricket Australia lists her as an allrounder who bats right-handed and bowls right-arm pace.
- She was in the opposing line-up when Ellyse Perry deflected the final ball of the 2010 World T20 final. Devine had struck it.
Devine in WBBL 2026 Season Fantasy
Devine is priced at 9.5 Cr and is classified as a batter, though she also bowls. The main question is fitness: the Scorchers announced her return as she completes her recovery from a calf injury sustained in The Hundred, and she is hoping to be at her best from the start of WBBL|12. Perth open at home against Melbourne Renegades on 31 October.
She retired from international cricket this year, so she has no Australian-style squad calls to work around. That makes her one of the more predictable minutes-wise in the pool, provided the calf holds.
