Sydney Sixers are two-time WBBL champions, back in 2016/17 and 2017/18, and Ellyse Perry has spent her career quietly setting records in their colours (she holds the all-time mark for most catches by a fielder, 67). But this off-season is about a gap, not a record. Alyssa Healy has retired, and the Sixers have spent September working out how to replace her.
Dunkley Returns First
England batter Sophia Dunkley confirmed her return on 3 September 2026. Last season she made 354 runs at an average of 39.33, the second-most for the club behind only Perry, and one of just two Sixers batters to pass 143 runs across the season. She has since scored 301 runs at a strike rate of 164.48 helping Trent Rockets win this year's Hundred.
"Sophia made an immediate impact last season, adding quality to our batting line-up and quickly becoming a valued member of the group on and off-the-field," Sixers general manager Rachael Haynes said.
Capsey Arrives to Take the Gloves
Then, on 16 September, England batter Alice Capsey signed with the Sixers after four seasons split between Melbourne Renegades and Melbourne Stars. Capsey recently kept wicket in an ODI series against Ireland, and with Healy gone there's a real chance she takes on that role for Sydney too.
"Alice is one of the most exciting young players in world cricket and we're thrilled to welcome her to the Sydney Sixers," Haynes said. "We believe Alice has all the attributes to make a significant impact, especially in our batting order and can help drive another strong campaign for the Sydney Sixers."
England's Mady Villiers has also left the club, alongside Healy. On the coaching side, Peter Clarke steps up after leading the NSW Breakers women's team to last season's WNCL final in his first campaign in charge, replacing Matthew Mott, who has moved across to coach the Sixers' men's BBL side.
