Ben Stokes last played in the Big Bash eleven years ago, for four games with the Renegades. Now 35 and retired from international cricket, the former England captain returns as the most expensive player in BBL fantasy, joining a former Ashes rival in Strikers coach Tim Paine.
Four games is too small a sample to mean much, though the strike rate of 156.1 and a best of 77 show what a Stokes hit looks like. The bigger evidence is outside the BBL. Stokes joins an all-round group with Liam Scott and Jerrssis Wadia, and Adelaide need experience after finishing sixth.
