Sydney Sixers have reached the final in four of the last six BBL seasons, winning once (BBL|10) and losing the other three. The BBL|15 final at Perth Stadium was another near miss, and this winter they come back with a new head coach.
Matthew Mott has been signed on a two-year deal, and Steve Smith is in the squad listed for 2026/27. If you want the safest top-order name in the league, he is on the list below.

Sixers fantasy picks
- Steve Smith: if he is in the XI, he is the first batting pick. Check the toss, because national duties can change his availability.
- Josh Philippe: opener and keeper, so he scores from catches and stumpings as well as runs. The record holder for dismissals.
- Sean Abbott: the all-time wicket leader. Death bowling gives him wickets in the final overs, where fantasy points are easiest to pick up.
- Tim Seifert: a New Zealand keeper-batter who can open. He is likely to be owned by fewer managers than Philippe.
Facts worth knowing
- Sixers won the first BBL in 2011-12 and have won three titles in total.
- Only Perth have played in more BBL finals.
- Abbott's 186 wickets are the most by any bowler in the competition.
