Four more WBBL|12 squad moves landed between 2 and 6 October, and the biggest is Pakistan captain Fatima Sana signing with Perth Scorchers, the first Pakistan player in the WBBL since Nida Dar in WBBL|05. Sydney Thunder, Sydney Sixers and Adelaide Strikers each added a player too. With these four the confirmed total across the 8 clubs is now 94, and no club has filled all 15 list spots.
The Four Moves
Fatima Sana, Perth Scorchers
Cricket Australia reported the deal on 3 October and the Scorchers confirmed it on 6 October. Sana is 24, leads Pakistan in both white-ball formats, and has signed for one year. She is only the second Pakistan player in the WBBL after Nida Dar, who played 11 games for Sydney Thunder in WBBL|05. She nominated for last year's overseas draft, since shelved, and nobody picked her.
The numbers from this year are hard to ignore. She hit a 15-ball fifty against Zimbabwe in May, the fastest in women's T20 internationals, and took 11 wickets at the T20 World Cup to make the team of the tournament. Cricinfo has her at 31 wickets and 540 runs in T20Is this year, more of both than any other Pakistan woman. In the Hundred she became the first Pakistan woman to play, for Birmingham Phoenix.
Scorchers general manager Kade Harvey called her "one of the most exciting young allrounders in world cricket." Sana said: "This really is a dream come true." She completes Perth's overseas group with Sophie Devine and Freya Kemp, and the Scorchers have 11 players with 4 spots left.
The availability catch
Sana is available for the first eight games. Reading that as Perth's first eight league matches, she plays through the 21 November game against Sydney Sixers and misses the 27 November game against Hobart Hurricanes and the 29 November game against Brisbane Heat. Cricinfo understands she could stay longer if Pakistan let her skip a training camp before their tour of the West Indies, which is expected to begin in the second week of December. Nothing has been confirmed either way.
Jemma Barsby, Sydney Thunder
Barsby signed a one-year deal on 2 October. She is 30, a three-time WBBL champion, the South Australia WNCL captain, and has played 143 WBBL matches for Brisbane Heat, Perth Scorchers and Adelaide Strikers. Thunder describe her as a proven allrounder who can bowl spin with either arm. General manager Trent Copeland said her name "came up in several facets" when the club listed its gaps. Thunder now have 12 of 15.
Maddy Darke, Sydney Sixers
Darke is back where her WBBL career started. The right-handed wicketkeeper and batter played 13 matches for the Sixers across WBBL|05 and WBBL|06, then had spells at the Stars and three seasons at the Scorchers. She signed on 5 October through to the end of 2028-29. That gives the Sixers a second keeping option next to Alice Capsey, and takes them to 13 of 15.
Emma de Broughe, Adelaide Strikers
The Strikers announced de Broughe on 6 October. She is a 26-year-old South Australian opener who spent three seasons at the Renegades, and last season she scored 313 runs for her state including two half-centuries. Her career state record is 1,776 runs in 63 matches at 28.65. Strikers coach Luke Williams called her "a strong top-order batter." Adelaide are at 12 of 15, with Darcie Brown still a doubt for the start of the season.
Where Every Squad Stands

A 13-player Governor-General's XI was named on 6 October to face New Zealand under lights at North Sydney Oval on 15 October. Eleven of them are WBBL players: Nicole Faltum (captain) and Tayla Vlaeminck of the Renegades, Charli Knott (vice-captain) and Lucy Hamilton of the Heat, Chloe Ainsworth of the Scorchers, Caoimhe Bray and Frankie Nicklin of the Sixers, Lucy Finn, Hasrat Gill and Anika Learoyd of the Thunder, and Rachel Trenaman of the Hurricanes. It is a useful early look at who is in form. Australia's own ODI and T20I squads, announced on 2 October, are covered in our earlier squad update.
