Mumbai Indians WPL 2027: Retained Squad and the Smallest Purse
Mumbai Indians won the WPL in 2023 and 2025, but 2026 went badly: fourth in the table, three wins from eight and no playoff place. The retention list still reads like a title side. Nat Sciver-Brunt (₹3.5 crore), Amelia Kerr (₹3 crore), Harmanpreet Kaur (₹2.5 crore) and Hayley Matthews (₹1.75 crore) all stay.
Mumbai then traded for overseas seamer Tara Norris from UP Warriorz on 12 October at her existing ₹10 lakh fee. That gives them six overseas players, the maximum allowed. So all six open spots must go to Indian players, and they have ₹90 lakh to share between them, the smallest purse of the five teams.

What to Watch at the Auction
- ₹90 lakh across six players is ₹15 lakh a head. The pool has 97 uncapped Indians, and 93 of them start at ₹10 lakh.
- G Kamalini, the 18-year-old batter Mumbai released, has one of the four ₹40 lakh base prices. Buying her back at base would leave ₹50 lakh for five players.
- Saika Ishaque (₹30 lakh), Triveni Vasistha (₹20 lakh), Poonam Khemnar, Nalla Reddy and Milly Illingworth (₹10 lakh each) are former Mumbai players in the list. Illingworth is an overseas player, so Mumbai cannot buy her back.
